Be Selfish!

Why is it bad to be selfish for ourselves? Why does everyone make us feel bad for choosing ourselves? In life, we can’t have all the things. If we want something, we need to sacrifice other things. However, why does everyone in the world want us to sacrifice what we truly want so that what they want can be achieved? I never understood the concept of living our lives not in our way but in the way others want. The world makes us feel so guilty for choosing ourselves, as if we are abandoning others, which is a serious crime. Why can’t a person live their life in the way they want? The people who are close to us feel that we don’t deserve happiness or freedom. Why does everything need to be done in the comfort of others? Why can’t we just do it without thinking about what others want? Why is being selfish seen as a crime? Why do we need to think about others before making a decision? Why can’t we just make the decision and live it? Why do we have to answer to others? Why is giving freedom seen as losing dominance over us by the world? Why does everything need to be explained when it comes to us living our lives?

There are so many whys when it comes to us making decisions about the life that we are meant to live. I feel like everyone wants us to be selfless in everything, but when it comes to us, nobody wants to be selfless for us. So in the end, we are the only ones who suffer the most. So why not ignore everyone? Maybe it will hurt them, but what about our pain, our hurt? Nobody sees it. So just do the heck you want, live the life, be selfish for yourself. Do what you want to do, don’t listen to others. In the end, the only thing that will be left is the regret of not fighting or the memories that made the life worth fighting for. So be selfish, it’s your life, and believe me, doing what you love is what life is all about.

Quietness!

As I grew older, I realised that there is noise even in quietness. The more I grew up, the more I started liking being alone. In my childhood, I used to believe that being alone was not good at all; however, now I like to spend my time with myself the most. No matter how much social battery I have, I will always need time for myself. It’s actually a privilege to be able to love and understand yourself, and that only happens when we spend time with our thoughts. There is always a voice in quietness, the voice of our inner self that guides us on what and how to do. You can only love others if you start with yourself, and for that, you need to understand what happens in the quietness. I am always someone who will zone out in the loudest crowd. I don’t know why the voice in me is so loud that it never allows the outside voice to reach inside. We can see it as a metaphor too. It’s all in us; if we want to achieve something, we need to trust ourselves and just do it. Don’t let the outside voice take away your inner voice. You can be as loud to yourselves about things that you want in your life. You need to understand that there is a voice in your heart that knows you better than anyone, that stands with you when the world points at you, and that voice is trust and belief. There is so much you can find in quietness, even yourself. It’s mandatory to look after yourself, to be selfish for yourself, to find the voice that describes just you. In quietness, you find yourself, and you start seeing yourself the way you want rather than from the world’s point of view. So being in peace, in quietness, is a way to listen to the inner voice that best describes you.

Make it the right moment!

We always wait for the right moment so that we can do or start something. However, does it ever occur that the right moment never comes but is made? When we start something new, we see things happening one by one in our favour. Isn’t it strange how we know nothing but that we start and find ourselves actually enjoying it? So it’s never about the right moment; it’s actually how we create it. Waiting is never the solution for things which we have never tried; it’s always going to be tough. We have to try and experience, we can’t just wait for the right moment to come. I feel like waiting and thinking that we need to become more capable first, and then doing it only leads to us delaying everything. We need to do it right in the moment; we can’t wait for the right moment or when it feels right. How will we know unless we don’t do it? I feel like, from my personal experience, I have learned that whenever I think about how I am going to do it, and feel afraid to just start, it makes me doubt myself more than actually doing it. We, humans, are made to adapt to change; we know how to handle situations, learn new things and trust ourselves. And for that, we can’t just sit and wait for the right moment to come. It’s all in our hands; if we want something from life, then we need to do it without waiting for the right moment. If an opportunity comes along, remember it can bring you a lot in terms of growth or lessons, and both are important in life. Don’t let go of the opportunity just because of your fears; everyone starts when they are afraid, but slowly they find their moment right. We can’t expect the right moment to come just by sitting; we need to take the step, face the fear and make it the right moment. So if you are waiting for the right moment to come, it’s never going to happen. All is up to you; only you can make it the right moment by acting upon it. Don’t think too much, just go for it, and everything will work out eventually.

Book Review: Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak

Another day, another thriller. I have to say the thriller vibe is coming back as I got to read two good thriller books in a row. One of them is Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak. Mallory Quinn has just got out of rehab and takes a babysitting job for Caroline and Ted Maxwell. Their son loves to draw and grew closer to Mallory. Later, he began drawing very creepy things, which led Mallory to uncover many secrets that might put her in danger.

One thing that attracts me is the book’s pace. When my attention can’t be anywhere else but the book. And I have to say, this book was one of those. The plot and the pace of the book were incredible. The writing is very engaging, and the chapters are short, too. The paranormal vibes in the book were just amazing. The cottage, the jungle, everything through the words was perfectly delivered by the author.

The main character, Mallory, is a protagonist with fast learning and solving skills, which I love in a thriller. I loved that she made the main revelation and revealed it, which made the book more interesting. I liked how, through her, we got to see the plot twist that makes it more interesting.

The plot line was engaging, and I did not guess the plot twist. It was wild to say and amazing. It is a whole new level of twist, but it fitted so perfectly with the book, I loved it. The paranormal activities and the pictures, everything was so eye-catching that I was looking forward to that part. The drawings were amazing, and the way they slowly revealed the whole story was phenomenal.

If you want an engaging thriller with paranormal vibes, I highly recommend this book.

The Stronger Ones

And sometimes you meet yourself back where you started, but stronger.

I was reading a quote that I screenshot, probably many years ago, which is how stronger ones know the pain of everything. Because they have gone through the pain of dealing with things in life. How funny is life? If it wants to make you stronger, it will make you suffer in a way that you get used to. The stronger you are, the more pain you learn to hide. I will say from my experience, life teaches you everything you need to know how to be strong, even in situations where you want to scream to the world how much you are suffering. It’s not bad being the weaker ones because that’s how you become the stronger ones. Stronger ones are not the ones who know their way around everything beforehand. They are those who know how to spend hours working hard and how to handle various situations. Being strong doesn’t mean knowing everything, but it means knowing how to deal with situations. Crying is never a weakness, but a sign of never giving up and the way to make the heart stronger for life. The way we deal with situations, the more we become stronger. Also, nobody deserves to know what you do, how you do it, or how you deal with situations. It’s only your concern how to be strong and keep going in life. Being stronger and being weaker go hand in hand; they coexist. The stronger ones dealt with situations where they knew nothing; however, they kept going. At some point in life, we need to have some time where we blow off everything that we are dealing with through taking a break, crying and totally not being okay. And everything is fine as long as you don’t give up. So, all out there, remember life is tough, but you are too!

This is tough. But so am I.

Book Review: She Didn’t See It Coming by Shari Lapena

Another day, another thriller. I have been hearing about Shari Lapena and her popcorn thrillers for a long time, and I thought this was the right time to give her books a shot. I started with her book She Didn’t See It Coming, which follows the story of a perfect couple, Bryden and Sam. They have their careers thriving and are surrounded by the right people. However, it is not always true what our eyes see, right? One day, suddenly, Bryden disappeared, leaving behind everything. And slowly, the detectives and the readers come to understand the reality of being a perfect family.

Let’s start with the plot. Hell, it was so engaging. I was on a full ride, enjoying as if I could be the culprit. This is a mystery thriller, so it is hard to keep readers engaged until the end, as everything has to be revealed in the end. But the author did such a good job in her writing. I was fully hooked. I liked the plot. One reason it was so fast-paced was the multiple points of view, which kept the plot engaging and interesting. However, I felt that there should have been more secrets about the couple, which would have made the book more interesting.

There is no main protagonist as such, but we see two stories I absolutely loved: Alice’s and Derek’s. I felt that their point of view added more depth to the Bryden story and overall to the book. To be honest, all the characters of the book were not very suspicious to me. I find the characters to be very average.

As I have read a lot of thrillers, it was very much predictable as to who the culprit was, but I still enjoyed the plot twist. I had a great time reading this book.

Overall, for a one-time read, I recommend it.

You can start AGAIN

You can start again, like the sun does every morning.

Nobody does it at first, and that’s why they are so experienced the second time. We were always told that the world would remember you if you did it first. But how wrong it is! So many people we look up to never did it at first, so it doesn’t matter when you try. What matters is that you didn’t give up. Nobody knows how much effort we are putting in, spending sleepless nights overthinking and crushing our dreams because of reality. Nobody is, and will be, there to assure us, to support us, and to tell us it’s totally okay to start again. But I am here to tell you that it’s totally okay to start again. Starting again is seen as a curse or a poison, but it’s important you ignore that and do what you want to do. It’s a way to find ourselves again. Life is not truly over until we give up. And we never give up. The world will be disappointed, but you should never be disappointed in yourself. Only you know how much you have worked, and slowly, with time, everything will be better. Starting again gives you the chance to breathe again, to make your life whole, to dream, to take the step, and to start smiling. So remember that you can always start again, no matter what others say. Till you are breathing, you will always have the chance to start again. It’s a way to feel whole again, to think that life never stops just because something didn’t work out. So if you are feeling insecure about how to start again, close your eyes, think about yourself, take a deep breath and tell yourself. There is so much left for you to do, so you can’t give up, and the only option left is to START AGAIN.

never feel guilty for starting again.

Book Review: Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera

I have been hearing about this book for such a long time, so I finally picked it up. I heard that it is more sarcastic than a thriller, so I will have fun reading it. So let’s see my take on it. The book follows the story of Lucy, who many years ago was found drowned in the blood. The blood belonged to her best friend, Saavy, who was found dead. But Lucy has no memory of what exactly happened. So one day, a podcaster, Ben, starts investigating the case, and Lucy must uncover what exactly happened.

Let me start by saying that I went into this book with no expectations, but after hearing so much talk about how much fun I would have. However, I have to say the book disappointed me a lot. Like, where are the thrillers with revelations that will drop the jaw? Let’s start with the plot, which was so predictable that I found it engaging but annoying because the same thing kept repeating. Lucy keeps repeating the same thing, which I find boring.

The protagonist, Lucy, was like the side characters. She was just going with the flow to find the killer of Savvy. The only thing that was intriguing about her was the voice inside her, which I thought would play a huge role in the plot twist, but it was just a part of the play, I guess. She was not seeking the truth; she was just playing around, which I found lacking in the protagonist.

Now, the most annoying part is the romance of whatever one calls it. Like, hello, we are trying to solve a case, and suddenly, the readers are thrown into an attraction part, which didn’t sit well with me. I was hoping for a good plot twist, but OMG, it was so disappointing, and I felt that it was written very simply.

There were many annoying loopholes, as I didn’t feel any thriller vibe from the book.

I didn’t like the ending. The plot twist was so predictable, and I didn’t find the book engaging.

I don’t recommend the book.

Every great story takes time to unfold

“In the end, we’ll all become stories.” – Margaret Atwood.

I love books, and most of the credit for my blogging goes to them. If I hadn’t started reading, I probably wouldn’t be here writing this blog post. One of the biggest reasons why I love books is that they know how to reach my emotions without actually showing. What I have learned from the books is that every book and every story takes time to unfold. In the beginning, everything is a mess, the protagonist is trying to find how to survive, and in the end, everything makes sense. Doesn’t this apply to our lives? Our lives are like book pages, each page inks what is happening and the problems that need to be dealt with. The pages are going to turn, but only after the first page is fully inked or you decide to leave it blank. I never really understood the concept of blank pages until a theory made it into my mind. That’s how important that blank page is. It is not easy to leave the page blank, but sometimes in life we are forced to leave behind what we truly desire and start over. It also means that ahead the pages will be filled with beautiful ink that will compensate for that blank page. So every story unfolds, but slowly, some pages are blanks, some are messy, and some are beautiful. Just like life, it is filled with stages where we will face so many scenarios. But it doesn’t stay forever, just like pages are turned exactly when situations change. And each situation, be it good or small, will forever be embedded in our minds. Some pages will teach us lessons, some will make us happy, some will make us sad, and some will forever be there, reminding us to never give up. So just like every story takes time to unfold, go through different stages in the same way our likes are like this. Our lives take time to unfold, and we go through different stages to see our story unfold. Also, in the world, there are many books according to everyone’s taste. Just like that in your lives, you have chances to throw the entire book and write a new one the way you want.

Book Review: The Missing Half by Ashley Flowers

Yes, it’s been such a long time since I last posted any book review because I was so busy that I didn’t pick up any. But here I am with another thriller, and it feels amazing to be back. So this thriller follows the story of two women, Nic and Jenna. Both of their sisters disappeared, so they teamed up to figure out the cold case and what exactly happened to them. However, as they move forward, they notice not something but everything is wrong.

Let me start by saying I was very much interested in this book because of its mystery vibes, and was really excited to read it. Let me start with the plot; it was just the same thing happening again and again. There was no revelation, like literally nothing, and I was literally bored as nothing was happening. The story just revolves around where it all started, but I found nothing interesting in the book. The plot felt flat for me.

The main protagonist, Nic, I don’t think she was really the main protagonist because the other sister was the main one. I felt that the author sidelined her in her own point of view. There is literally no revelation she makes; instead, what she saw is what we saw.

The ending was one of the most outrageous endings for a thriller to have. Like, I was so dumbfounded, like what was even that? It really made no sense to have that kind of an ending. It went from storytelling to sisterly love, which I cannot digest ever.

Maybe I was expecting too much; however, I don’t think so. Any thriller deserves this kind of ending. The vibe of the book was also okay, as in I was not super interested, and felt that the pace was slow. Also, the book has good potential, but I guess the author wanted to give the readers a very unexpected ending/plot twist. However, I felt that it didn’t go well with this book.

It did not drop my jaw, so I don’t recommend this book.
