Review: ‘High School Frenemy’ Thai Drama (2024)

“The most important thing that I’m giving up.

It’s not school.

It’s you, Shin.” – Saint.

After seeing so many reels of this drama, I decided to give it a try and I went blind into it without knowing anything was it the best decision? Hell yeah! I am someone who hardly has dramas that are stuck in my mind otherwise I just watch it for fun. But if I watch a drama and it touches my heart and soul then it is game over for me, it will become my personality and I will never recover from that hangover ever. And this is what happened when I watched ‘High School Frenemy’ and OMG what a masterpiece. It is about Saint and Shin who used to be best friends in the past, however, an incident broke their friendship. Both belong to two different campuses but the administrator decides to combine both campuses which for many years hated each other. But now they will be sharing the same roof for the next school year. I didn’t know that it was a remake of School 2013, the Korean drama.

For me, friendship is the most important and valuable thing in my life. I think no love can top the friendship relationship. And this drama made me more empathetic and grateful towards my friends. The plot, the friendship, and the pure relationship between teacher and student were just beautiful to watch in this drama. I love the male lead when they are quiet and mysterious but actually, a beast inside that is what Saint is. Even though it is kind of a plot twist the second I saw him in the first episode I knew he was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Saint, what can I say about him, he is such a character who would do anything for his friends, but he is also a flawed character who has made mistakes as a teenager. Sky who played the character of Saint, OMG has done such incredible acting, the way his eyes are always filled with guilt and regret. The way he acted so helpless because he wanted forgiveness, the way he delivered the dialogues, and the way he acted through his eyes made the drama and character more special.

Then we have Shin, he is just a pure character. In the beginning, you will meet Shin, you might not like him but his best friend, Saint did to him making his action totally understandable. Nani, who has played the character of Shin, what can I say about it? He has done such marvellous acting, and his eyes are the star of his character. He is just a pure character, so kind, and so forgivable. He went through so much pain but he was so selfless. I loved his character the most because being selfless is not easy and only strong people can do it like him.

“You must have changed for real.

But one’s true nature is unlikely to change.” – Shin.

Let’s talk about the friendship between them, OMG that is the star of the drama. The dialogue, the staring, and the longing between them were so powerful that they made me breathless. It is a bromance but there was something more powerful between them, and the chemistry was just off the chart. Having a friend who can do anything for each other, even die is what they were to each other. Saint taking a beating for Shin and telling him, he will protect him forever was just beautiful to watch. Shin making sure to be with Saint forever, their friendship is just amazing and pure. The conversation between them was a chef kiss. Did I sob when they mend their friendship? Did I not stop giggling? Did I want everyone to have a friend as their safe zone? A big yes. And let me tell you the secret, I have a best friend who is my personal diary, my trauma relief, and the friendship that I ever wanted, and I will be forever thankful for that girl.

Another star of the show is Chadjen. He was the cupid for Saint and Shin to recover their friendship. I adored him so much. Then we have the teacher Jan. She was the moment and the character of the drama. If only in real life we had teachers who understood us rather than judged us, this world would be so much better. Jan is so beautiful from inside and outside. Because of her, all the classmates became friends, and the war ended.

This drama will forever be in my mind and I will always have a wish to erase it again so that I can watch this drama again for the first time. The chemistry, the friendship, the lessons, and the understanding between teacher and student were top-notch. Everything in this drama was a chef kiss.

If you can take any one recommendation from me, please be it this one and thank me later.

“You don’t need to understand us if you already judge us.” – Saint.

Review: ‘Love O2O’ C-drama (2016)

“After watching the video, you never doubted Bei Wei Wei? You trust her that much? Why wouldn’t I trust my girlfriend?” – Xiao Nai

I will never stop yapping about this Chinese drama ever in my life and it is my favourite drama. I want to say that this drama is mind-blowing to start your C-drama journey, however, I am afraid it might make your expectations higher than infinity. Also, there is no C-drama like this made again. Bei Wei Wei is a beauty with a brain girl who is majoring in computer science and loves to play games online. On the other hand, Xiao Nai is a cold-hearted boy who is also majoring in computer science and loves to play games online. So both get married in the virtual game, however, they don’t know anything about each other in real life.

This drama has set the expectations for other dramas too high because there is nothing in this drama that I did not like. First of all the plot is simple yet very fun because it goes back and forth from the leads being the players in the game and then they are shown in real life. The cinematography is amazing, and the game shown is so beautiful that it makes you think you are part of the drama.

Now talking about my favourite thing about this drama is the leads. If you are a follower of C-drama, you might know that it follows the pattern of rich boy and poor girl. The boy is handsome while the girl is not beautiful, then the parents’ opinion, another girl or boy, which to be honest I am not a fan of. But this drama broke all the patterns and such a beautiful story was created.

Xiao Nai is handsome and very popular yet he is a gentleman. He knows what he wants and trusts Bei Wei Wei like every man should do for their woman. He legit fell in love with her from behind that too at first sight and then only he decided he wanted her and after that fate worked out for him. Now, Bei Wei Wei is also a popular girl with beauty and brain which for a Chinese female lead is rare. I think I loved that about this drama they made both of them equally great for each other. I love how modest she is, she’s classy, knows her worth and is strong irrespective of being shy.

The romance between them at first is awkward because he is very straightforward while she is very shy. They both understand each other without saying much which I liked. The chemistry is electrifying. Both love and support each other so much. I wish to have a relationship like them. There is no moment in the drama where he does not believe her or where she doesn’t believe in him. There is no misunderstanding, it is just straight-up learning about each other.

I love both of their friendship groups there is not much interaction between their friendship group and there is no pairing among their friends which is also very rare. I just wished for their interaction as it would be funny as hell. The second lead couple is so sweet but the story mainly focuses on the first lead couple.

I highly recommend this drama, it is all about romance and the beauty of trusting and believing in each other.

Review: ‘Vincenzo’ K-drama (2021)

“If you walk alone, you reach quickly. But if we go together, we can go far.” – Kwak Hee Soo

“Vincenzo” this drama has me in a chokehold and I will never be able to escape it. I went into this drama blindfolded and it was the best decision. It was so good because everything was unexpected and in a good way. I typically thought it was a Mafia drama so it would have a lot of action and heroic scenes but it was filled with comedy. So basically in a Mafia world, they try to keep it low and do not get engaged with anyone until somebody challenges them. And I think that was portrayed really well in this drama I saw some people want more Mafia types of scenes. But Vincenzo Cassano as a Mafia lawyer needed to keep it low to not get attention until he was challenged and he truly showed his ability. I love how this show portrayed that the Mafia not only includes action but also intelligence and Vincenzo rocked it.

I loved the courtroom scenes they are hilarious I would say that expect the unexpected where you would expect something you would get unexpected scenes. Hong Cha-young, the girl she is and I love how she is portrayed, a little silly, crack-head, and noisy, but at the same time intelligent and confident. Vincenzo is one of my favourite fictional characters, he is handsome duh, but honestly, he has control over how to deal with people and circumstances. He knows some problems are inevitable and he will face them and how he smartly has many plans to deal with so I think that really made him stand out.

Now let’s talk about the main heroes of the drama, the Geumga Plaza family or the Cassano family and how each of them helped and stood with Vincenzo till the end. The bond they created with Vincenzo and Hong Cha-young was so beautiful and the main star of the show. Then comes Jan Han-seo, he and Vincenzo created a brotherhood that he could not find in his own brother. Ahn Gi-seok, we need to be forever grateful for him and the way he helped Vincenzo. The whole family stood as a shield for Vincenzo, their cornsalad and protected him with their life and it was so heartwarming to watch. Special shout out to Inzagi if you know you know.

“Regret is the most painful thing in life” – Vincenzo

The chemistry between Hong Cha-young and Vincenzo was beyond the words. Actually, they prove that friendship is the most superior form of love and even one real friend is enough. Jang Han-seok is one of the best villains created in K-drama history and all the drama really kept me at the edge. The plot was engaging, dark, entertaining and super fresh.

The only thing I hated in this show was the prosecutor should have been tortured more, he died very easily and I still can’t get over it. He was the reason why most of the problems happened.

I loved the ending, I think it suited the drama very well. I know some people wanted a happy ending but I think the open ending suited it a lot and gave a realistic meaning to the drama. I highly recommend this drama.

Review: ‘Flex X Cop’ K-drama (2024)

“In the movie, a cop’s life looks so interesting. They chase the criminals with fascinating actions and handcuff the criminals. You know what they don’t show. A labour of detectives in reality.” – Lee Gang-hyun

One thing you should know about me is that I am a sucker for action and thriller dramas. I don’t care much about the storyline if the action scenes are performed well, and I am satisfied. And it is even better when it has enemies to lovers, friendship and comedy incorporated in them. And guess what “Flex X Cop” is that drama for me that I never expected to like much.

It is about a rich brat, Jin I-soo who became the prey of the wrong time and wrong place. Due to this, he was assigned to work as a detective in the violent crime department under the leadership of Lee Gang-hyun and two other detectives. Now Jin I-soo in a typical bart manner is very not likable and is very blunt so he is not liked by his leader. The enemies-to-lovers trope in this drama taught me that romance is not needed for it to be successful. Both in the starting can’t stand each other but slowly he becomes an important part of the group.

The plot line is great there are many cases included and each was solved in 1 and a half episodes. The end twist was amazing I did see it coming but at the same time, I did not expect it to be like that. I loved the fact that they did not show him overly smart but did include flaws as he is not a real detective which makes it relatable at times and perfectly balances out his character.

Lee Gang-hyun, the girl she is. I loved the fact irrespective of not liking I-soo she thoroughly accepted and did her responsibility as a leader. She looked for him and involved him in the cases. Her action scenes were done so perfectly, I just love her.

The acting was top-notch, the cases involved were astounding, and the ending was mind-blowing. I am not very sure about romance and romantic relationships in action dramas because then the main focus just shifts and allows the drama’s main aim to go down.

In this drama there is no romance at all, both never really thought at all about feelings or relationships which I think was great because it never started so there is no point in ending and nobody gets hurt. The drama does not focus on romance at all but on friendship. Both the leads look and care for each other which shows their proper teamwork.

Talking about the ending, I liked it as it perfectly fitted for the drama. The friendship all four created they didn’t know when Jin I-soo became a part of their group and Jin I-soo did not know what true friendship was until he met them. When it is said that the chemistry in non-romance dramas is so intense that is what I will say about their chemistry.

If you want to watch something action-packed but not too intense this drama is perfect as it has a flow of comedy within it.
