Review: ‘Teach You a Lesson’ K-drama (2026)

“If a doctor is afraid of their patients, they can’t treat them properly. If a lawyer is afraid of their clients, they can’t defend them properly. So, if a teacher is afraid of their students, can they teach them properly? If adults become afraid of children…the world is doomed.” – Na Hwa Jin

Yes, I am in a K-drama marathon, and that too is ongoing or recently finished. For my master’s thesis, I chose the topic of the dark reality of Korean society that is being exposed by the Korean dramas. The biggest issue was about bullying, and so much drama has been made around it. However, this drama really showed how it needs to be solved because bullying is extremely serious and can damage the victim’s life completely. This drama shows that school teachers find it hard to discipline students as they are quietened by power and authority. So the Minister of Education created the Educational Rights Protection Bureau. Na Hwa Jin belongs to the Bureau and, with his team, addresses problems and disciplines students.

Let’s start with Na Hwa Jin, this ajushiii was everything. His black suit, hair down and smirk were phenomenal. His aura, what can I even say about it? The way he disciplined the students with his magic slap was so satisfying. I loved his fighting skills. His love story was truly heartbreaking. He protected everything except the one he promised to cherish his life with.

Choi Gang Seok, the minister and the mastermind behind everything. His bonding with Na Hwa Jin was amazing to watch. Bong Geun Dae, the mastermind behind the computers and one of my favourite characters. A huge thanks goes to him for accomplishing all of the missions.

Now my favourite character, Im Han Rim, I aspire to be like her. Outspoken, cute, and her fighting skills, ufff, everything about her was phenomenal. The four of them worked really hard to achieve the goal of creating a society where students who are serious about their studies get the best.

The plot was plotting. I liked how we saw everything from the perspective of the students, the teacher, and the parents. How rich students use their power to bully poor students, and the school can do nothing about it because of the power. Then the teacher destroys the student’s future because of money, overbearing parents, and the wrong use of social media.

All the villains did a fantastic job, and it is so cruel that it is actually the reality. I learned a huge lesson that no matter what they do, if a person doesn’t want to change themselves, nothing can be done. No amount of kindness can do it. I enjoyed it so much.

I loved the part where the bullies learn their lesson. Especially when Na Hwa Jin makes them go through what the victim went through.

If you want fast-paced, satisfying drama, I highly recommend this.

Review: ‘Night Has Come’ K-drama (2023)

Finally, my Korean drama hiatus ends with this thriller. So my friend recommended this drama to me, and I know I have to get on it. I mean, high school students trapped in a building and playing a deadly game sounds freaking interesting. So this drama follows the second-year students of Yooil High School who were forced to play a deadly mafia game during their field visit. Lee Yeon Seo, a girl with sharp reasoning skills, class president Kim Jun, and brilliant student Oh Jung Won all must fight for their survival.

Let’s start with the plot. It’s a game, so everything happens according to the rules, which makes it repetitive. I loved the plot, straight to the point, and it was fun to see what happens when they don’t follow the rules. I would say it was just them rage-baiting each other, and I found all of them so interesting, the bad ones we can say.

Then we have the female lead, Lee Yeon Seo, whose zero contribution I got to see. In the description, it was written with sharp reasoning, and she moves on. First and foremost, as someone who wants to survive the game, nothing should be shared with others. But she would just say everything, and boom, everyone points at her. Just because she is a female lead, she survived till the end. I found no contribution from her.

Kim Jun was an interesting character, but Oh Jung Won, I loved her. Sharp, observant and straight to the point.

I loved each and every character of the play. I could say it was a morality drama that focuses on every character’s virtues and vices. My favourite character was Go Kyung Jun, the top rage baiter among them. The end plot twist got me, and after that, everything was kind of rushed.

The drama is fast-paced with such short episodes. Oooo, and the ending was interesting to say. The cinematography and the panic among them were not about dying but about showcasing their vices.

I recommend this drama.
