My urge to be free is greater than my urge to be loved.

Marriage scares me the most, other than finding no purpose in life. You know, freedom is never given; we actually have to earn it because we never really knew what freedom was. Freedom is never taught, so we never really know what it is. When I first got a taste of freedom in the form of a small act, I wasn’t aware of what it meant, but I felt so happy and alive.

The day I learned what it actually means to live, I was flabbergasted. Because nobody teaches us to enjoy moments but to survive life. Freedom is an acronym for being alive, being what the heck we want to be, choosing whatever brings us happiness, and being able to fly. I think a lot about the idiom of flying high, breaking the cage of depression and sadness, the cage the world has made around us.

I know we all want to be loved and pampered. But right now, feeling pampered and living life don’t go hand in hand. I don’t ever want to give up my freedom, my individuality, to be with someone. I think it’s a huge debate right now about how marriage makes so many changes, especially in a woman’s life, that they forget to live their own life.

I want to be free to make my own decisions and do what I want to do in my life. My urge to be free is greater than my urge to be loved. I feel like it is so scary to realise that in life we stop thinking about ourselves and just keep focusing on others. Losing yourself is one of the scariest things to ever happen to anybody, which I will never wish for my enemy.

So live that life, girl; do what the heck you want to do. Explore, learn about yourself, understand what you want from life. Don’t listen to others and fight for your freedom. Freedom is always yours; it’s your life, and you deserve every bit of it.
