Solitude

I used to think, as a child, that being alone meant not having friends and that it was being alone. However, later, as I grew up, I understood that it’s not about being alone; actually, it’s about being able to enjoy your own company, which is solitude. When I got to understand what solitude means and how much I love being in solitude, everything changed in my life.

Solitude is basically allowing you to enjoy your own company and thoughts. At first, I used to think How important is it to be alone? But now I understand that I need time to be with myself alone. I enjoy having time to sit, eat my favourite food, and watch whatever I want without having to think much about it.

Now, when someone asks me about my ideal day, I would say sitting in a park all alone with my favourite snacks and hobbies and enjoying the silence it offers me. I find it so fascinating seeing people sitting alone in a public place and enjoying the time. I can say proudly that what solitude has offered is so much; it has allowed me to feel my emotions to depth and understand what is going on with my heart and mind.

And most importantly, it has allowed me to be vulnerable. Whenever I feel like my mind is getting heavy or I need some time. I step back and enjoy the silence that I need. When I am in a lot of chaos, nothing works right for me, so I need time to be with myself. I was told that I was a huge extrovert, as in I can hold conversations with people well.

But now, as I have grown up, I realise that I need solitude in order to breathe and just relax. Solitude is all about being alone with your thoughts of mind and being able to enjoy the silence of your heart.
