The Importance of Slowing Down

Isn’t it crazy that we used to think that after growing up, getting a job, life would be perfect? Every day will be spent peacefully doing what we love. And it doesn’t come to an extent. However, at a certain point, a sudden realization occurs that we are working in a loop: the demands of the job and life are getting bigger and bigger, rather than feeling content. Isn’t it crazy that this growing world is taking a toll on everyone, leaving us without time to celebrate our achievements because there is a constant urge to do better? I used to think that now I have to work, and then I will relax, but still today I wonder when the relaxation part will come? It’s just work and work. I have experienced that doing work but pushing myself overboard brings me nothing but stress that makes me feel the worst version of myself. I need space to breathe, to step back and enjoy how far I have come. The world never really teaches us the importance of slowing down, but instead, it makes us feel guilty for not working hard.

All of our adult life, we work day and night, which is not good at all. There needs to be time taken to just relax and breathe in a moment. Exhausting ourselves physically and mentally is the worst we could do. Nothing is more important than ourselves; remember that. Your body speaks to you. If it needs rest, shut down everything and slow down. Health is wealth. We need to understand the importance of slowing down, to enjoy the peace of life, to sometimes let our mind free, to not exhaust our body, to enjoy the day without logging to the world, and just be ourselves. Take the trip that you are postponing, eat the dessert you want, dance your heart out, log out of the world and enjoy being yourself, pause your worry about work and understand the importance of slowing down.
