In life, the first thing we learn is how to have good relationships with others. It’s always about the world and its people, and how we have to live that way. But as an adult, the only thing that matters is ourselves, our wants and our needs. Nobody really teaches us that we have to do things for ourselves; we are taught that we have to make others happy, and that is why we need to work hard. But isn’t this life ours? Where is the part which says that whatever we do in life should make us happy rather than the world? I guess we learn it the hard way, after so much sacrifice and tears, we learn that all matters are ours and no one else’s. As children, we always thought we would be surrounded by friends, and it was not tiring, as we had no responsibilities or thoughts. However, as adults, we learn about ourselves, we learn to set boundaries, and we learn to love ourselves. I used to think being alone meant being lonely, but later learned the bitter truth that being surrounded by people can be lonely. When I started learning how to enjoy my own company, I think those were my best days. I felt so much about myself and my life. The independence we get being alone is so different and breathable. You need to learn how to enjoy your own company; if not, you might never be able to see things. Being alone doesn’t mean you can’t have fun; it is when you learn to love yourself.
Go on walks, to the mall, restaurant, market, when you want to be alone and see how much you learn about yourself. In life, everyone has their own dream. We can’t expect to depend on someone for our lives. So we need to learn how to enjoy our own company, make our own decisions, take that risk, and realise that being alone is not as bad as the world makes it seem.
